The Samsung MBP200 Pico Projector is another phone in the projector line of phones which has been started off by
Samsung. It is indeed a smart move by Samsung to start off a whole new line of phones as it has become more and more difficult for companies to compete with each other in the existing range of products as most companies are resorting to undercutting competitors in regard to price. Therefore, a new product in a new market will definitely enable Samsung to boost its profits and keep the company as a whole in good shape. Another phone to have been announced at the MWC2009 in the same line is the
Samsung i7410.
The specs sheet itself is not anything to shout out loud about, but the uniqueness of the phone itself is enough. Anyhow, here are the specifications.
- 2.2 inch QVGA LCD display with a resolution of 320x240 pixels
- Thickness is 19mm, and it weights 160g

As far as looks goes, the Pico Projector is much more stylish than the i7410, though a bit more on the chunkier side. It has a real sleek look, with the device being fully decked in black, with some parts of the phone being silver. The screen is on the top, but can only be viewed horizontally. There are some controls under the screen, which are to be used when you are viewing something using the projector. They could also be used to control what you do on the device itself. On the bottom of the device is the slide button, which is used to increase or decrease the focus as you prefer.
The projector module is perched on the right side of the device under a small door, which should be slid to reveal the module.
All in all, the Pico Projector is something new from Samsung. It would be extremely useful to businessmen who are going somewhere to do a presentation but suddenly realize that there is no projector available at the venue. Out comes the Pico Projector. All you would need is a wall which has nothing written or pasted on it (there is bound to be one) and you will be able to display any videos or PowerPoint presentations at the click of a button. Not only will the people watching the presentation be impressed, they will also probably be impressed at how tech-savvy the user is and perhaps give him / her full marks!
Samsung have not revealed any details as such regarding the pricing and the release date, but they say that it should be released before the end of the year.
