LG GM750 Review
Overview
Small and functional, the LG GM750 is a smartphone built for the modern lifestyle.
Pros
The LG GM750 is a compact mobile with a 3 inch touchscreen. With an LG S-Class user interface, exploring all the features and using the phone is fun. The interface, which is also used on other LG phones like the
Viewty Smart, is simple and interactive, and you can effortlessly scroll through the four home screens and type messages on the on-screen QWERTY keyboard.
The main home screen can be changed to look how you want it to look. You can drag and drop different widgets onto the screen and move them around to position them. This is similar to the screen on the
iPhone 3G S which lets you change icons and rearrange the layout. Also, like the
iPhone’s Apple App Store, the LG GM750 has access to Windows Marketplace for Mobile with various features and games available for download.
The second and third home screens are also customisable. You can add your favourite songs, videos and photos to the multimedia screen and these are displayed in a carousel-style to let you flick through to find what you want. Similarly, you can add new contacts, change contacts’ details, and alter the layout of the contacts home screen. The fourth screen is for the Vodafone widgets including the music store.
If you like to use your phone for practical reasons such as typing an email to a colleague or editing a spreadsheet, you will like the LG GM750. The phone has support for a number of email accounts, which are all easy to install and you can grab your work email, contacts and calendar and add these to your phone using the Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync. There is Pocket Office installed so you can open, edit and save Word, Excel, PowerPoint and OneNote documents, along with viewing PDFs.
The 5-megapixel camera inbuilt in the LG GM750 comes with autofocus and video recording function, so you take pictures and film events on the move. The phone has fast internet connection and data transfer ability so you can quickly upload images via the Twitter or Facebook applications, email footage to friends or save pictures to your home computer.
The LG GM750 phone also has the Microsoft MyPhone service for backing up your documents and storing them online. This allows you to access files from anywhere over the internet and also means you won’t lose the information when you replace or misplace your phone.
Cons
Given all the features it’s a shame the inbuilt memory is only 200MB. The LG GM750 can take microSD cards up to 32GB so there is always the option to expand the memory.
Conclusion
The Windows Mobile 6.5 platform combines with the LG touch interface to makes the LG GM750 an appealing smartphone for both business and personal communication.
